I bring a wealth of experience to the role and I also volunteer with a charity supporting people living with cancer, during this time I began to study Reiki as an alternative therapy. I am a chartered ant and a Lawyer with a master in Human Resources. However, on this job I found myself so involve in the Wellbeing of the human being that I decided to became a Master student of Psychology at the University of Chester. As my family is back in Mexico I am fully committed with the Residents at Oak Grange, for me Every day I get to do what I love, having fun, having a laugh yapping lots and trying my very best to make a difference on each and every one of the residents as I would love someone do the same with my parents.
Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies.
Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones! For some residents at Barchester Healthcare — Oak Grange Care Home in Mollington, the long awaited reunion with family and friends became a reality recently, as garden visits have now been allowed to commence at the home. There has been much careful planning and preparation for this moment In this Mollington afternoon looking for a lover the scenes at Barchester Healthcare, who run Oak Grange care home.
Social distancing was still in place, and homes that are able to take part must have a large accessible garden. It was welcome news to so many residents, family, and friends, who were kept apart for so long following strict government guidance. Residents and their loved ones got together in the home garden and the garden was fully of joy and chatter.
This was a special moment, and I was over the moon. Using safe and effective communication, like video calling, allows our residents to stay in touch with family and friends. Oak Grange held a day of celebrations to thank care staff at the home, who make a real difference to the lives of those in their care. Carers Week is an annual event to raise awareness of caring, highlighting the challenges carers face, and recognising the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK, which now, is more important than ever.
Carers have a vital job in the care of residents throughout the home, and form very special bonds with the people they look after. They are the day-to-day face of our home, working directly with residents and families to ensure the very best quality care and support is given.
They offer friendship and comfort to residents and their relatives, during what can be a very emotional time. As the Queen celebrated her second, and official birthday residents of Oak Grange ed in the fun too! Residents were also treated to royal themed day and refreshments throughout, prepared by the hospitality team. Residents tuned in to watch a Royal Salute from the military, lead by The Welsh Guard and massed Bands of the Household Division, which replaced the Trooping the Colour after it was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Residents have been discovering their creative sides at Oak Grange with regular art therapy sessions in the mornings.
With small groups and relaxing music, residents are able to switch off and focus on their painting. The finished works are simple, yet spectacular, and are giving people a big confidence boost as well!
Residents of Oak Grange took to the home's beautiful garden to take advantage of the recent glorious weather. Everyone commented on how much better they felt for grabbing a breath of fresh air, feeling the sun on their faces and checking on the progress of the plants, including the colourful pots that have just been added. Our residents are looking forward to June's fun - take a peek at our Life Enrichment programme highlights.
