Jordan Denies Allegations, Says Accuser Is 'Bullying' Him

Ohio lawmaker accused of ignoring abuse of Ohio State student-athletes

Rep. Jim Jordan denies allegations he ignored sexual abuse of Ohio State wrestlers

President Donald Trump said Thursday he is "100 percent" confident in Rep. Jim Jordan's, R-Ohio, denial he knew about sex abuse on a wrestling team he coached.

Jordan, speaking to reporters at a July Fourth rally in Fremont, repeatedly denied claims by ex-wrestlers Mike DiSabato and Dunyasha Yetts, who say the powerful Republican congressman from OH knew back then that Richard Strauss was groping male athletes.

"I don't believe [the accusations] at all", Trump said.

What a rep for Jordan had to say after NBC News published its article: "Congressman Jordan never saw any abuse, never heard about any abuse and never had any abuse reported to him during his time as a coach at Ohio State".

Jordan, a founder of the conservative Freedom Caucus, is one of the most powerful Republicans in Congress and a potential contender for speaker.

Dozens missing after tourist boat capsizes off Thailand
At least seven people are missing after two tourist boats capsized in the popular resort of Phuket in Thailand, police have said. Officials had earlier issued a warning of severe weather until next Tuesday, including heavy rain and strong winds.

Dailey told NBC News, "It was very common knowledge in the locker room that if you went to Dr. Strauss for anything, you would have to pull your trousers down", and that Jordan was present when this was discussed.

"I love Jimmy to death", the ex-wrestler said.

Shawn Dailey told NBC News today that Strauss groped him half a dozen times during the mid-1990s. He recalled an incident where Strauss - whose locker was next to Jordan's - had dressed after a shower to leave the building, but then disrobed and went back in for another one after noticing a favorite athlete entering the shower room. He said Strauss tried to pull down his wrestling shorts when Yetts visited him about a thumb injury.

Their statements came after Jordan told The Columbus Dispatch this spring that he "had not heard about any type of abuse at all". Jordan said Wednesday that he knew nothing about any allegations against Strauss.

Although that seems to contradict a statement from Jordan's office that he had "not been contacted by investigators about the matter", Kathleen Trafford of Porter Wright said on Thursday that "it appears that Representative Jordan did not receive these messages". I believe Jim Jordan 100%. No question in my mind.

A team doctor who allegedly molested athletes; coaches who reportedly knew but turned a blind eye.

Jordan has denied that he knew about allegations of abuse by Strauss, who joined Ohio State's clinical faculty in 1978 and served as a team physician in the athletics department from 1981 to 1995 before retiring in 1998.

Allegations that he knew about Strauss's purported behavior were first reported Tuesday by NBC News.

Before meeting with university officials, he said, he had contacted Mr. Jordan, with whom he said he spoke regularly.
