MacFarlane, whose animated "Family Guy" is broadcast on Fox TV, tweeted on Saturday that he was "embarrassed to work for this company", referring specifically to its connection with Fox News.

Paul Feig and Apatow, who have both produced projects with Fox, also took to social media to criticize the news division. Saying he had great admiration for his colleagues at Fox, Levitan said he would "take some time to see where those people land, and at that point, make a decision about my future". Last November, he switched agencies from WME to CAA, as he started negotiations on a potential new overall deal with Fox TV.

Levitan's criticism of Fox News was echoed by three other influential television and movie producers and creators as an outcry grew in the United States and overseas over a policy to separate immigrant children from their parents who cross the USA border illegally.

Two killed, several injured after Malmö shooting
Police have yet to give a motive for the shooting, however, they said there is no cause for public alarm. Witnesses reported hearing about 15 shots fired by an automatic weapon.

In light of Seth MacFarlane's tweets this weekend expressing his embarrassment at working for Fox and condemnation of Fox News' Tucker Carlson's diatribe against trusting all non-Fox News media, the "Family Guy" creator has followed up with a counter-tactic against the network. On Tuesday, MacFarlane donated $2.5 million (1.90 million pounds) to the National Public Radio news organisation.

They were joined by others in the entertainment and advertising industries who are questioning their business relationships over the coverage by Fox News.

MacFarlane quoted Stelter's tweet and said, "In other words, don't think critically, don't consult multiple news sources, and in general, don't use your brain".

Hollywood types aren't exactly the favorite of Fox News Channel personalities or viewers, but the developments could have business implications.

First trade domino falls as Dwight Howard gets traded
The Atlanta Hawks did the same thing last summer when they sent Howard to Charlotte for Marco Belinelli and Mason Plumlee. The Charlotte Hornets have traded center Dwight Howard to the Brooklyn Nets , league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Levitan had tweeted earlier that he was "disgusted" to work for the company.

The prolific filmmaker Judd Apatow was asked on Twitter whether he would also consider leaving the Fox Studio stable, and replied: "I would leave but I decided not [to] work for them sixteen years ago".

On the southern U.S. border, migrant families are being split up and young children kept in cages in camps as part of a controversial clampdown on immigration introduced by Donald Trump's administration. Comcast Corp., the largest US cable company, has made its own bid for the Fox assets.

The backlash comes at a sensitive time for Fox as The Walt Disney Company and Comcast in a multi-billion-dollar bidding war for its assets, not including Fox News.
