"Fair trade now fool trade", Trump vents anger on NATO allies, Trudeau

Unbowed, Trump tweeted anew Monday morning from Singapore, repeating his criticism of USA trade policies with Canada - he also took aim at Germany - in a multitweet rant that went beyond 200 words all told.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has closed the G7 summit by stating he "won't be pushed around" by Donald Trump on trade.

President Trump started his day in Singapore on Monday where he blasted the Canadian Prime Minister and slammed North Atlantic Treaty Organisation just after meeting with the U.S. allies at the G7 in Quebec.

Trump had told Trudeau any retaliation would be a mistake and the prime minister agreed that it was "not something we want to do".

Trump followed up on Sunday with tweets calling free trade with Canada "fools trade" and said Trudeau "acts hurt when called out". In the most Canadian manner (polite), not directly targeting anyone unlike POTUS (President of the United States).

But instead of punishing the entire United States economy, the initiative proposed by Scott Gilmore, a former Canadian diplomat and social entrepreneur, suggests that his compatriots punish Trump himself by striking at his "wallet".

"If they retaliate, they're making a mistake", Trump said.

Hours after Trump withdrew his support for the joint statement and attacked Trudeau, Kudlow and trade adviser Peter Navarro drove the message home on Sunday morning news shows in an extraordinary assault on a close US ally and neighbor.

President Donald Trump left leaders at G7 Summit angry after he refused to sign the joint statement of world leaders, and accused the European Union for treating the USA as its own "piggy bank". The president also repeated claims that Canada overtaxes American dairy products under its supply management system and complained about Canadian automobiles flooding the USA market.

"The non-factual part of this is - they have enormous tariffs", Kudlow said on CNN's "State of the Union".

"In a matter of seconds, you can destroy trust with 280 Twitter characters", German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said when asked about Mr Trump's U-turn, adding it would take much longer to rebuild lost trust.

During a joint press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron, Canadian PM Justin Trudeau's eyebrow seems to have slid down his face.

Shortly after Mr. Trudeau said that he was "happy to announce that we have released a joint communique by all seven countries" indicating that the U.S. was also included, Mr. Trump announced that Washington would reverse its decision and not sign the statement.

"We used to be a nation that was unbelievably cash flow oriented and had no debt of any outcome", he said. "Do Timber & Lumber in US?"

On his way to Singapore Saturday, Mr. Trump tweeted that he thinks fair and reciprocal trade will happen. He said that Canada has to stand up for itself.

Peter Navarro, Trump's top trade adviser, denounced Trudeau with language rarely used even against America's adversaries. He really kind of stabbed us in the back. "This I've never seen before, nor has anyone else", Mulroney said.

Trump's top economic adviser, Larry Kudlow, suggested Trump saw Trudeau as trying to weaken his hand before the summit with North Korea's Kim Jong Un, saying the president won't "let a Canadian prime minister push him around".
