The children told police their grandmother had them sit in dog cages because there was no room in the back seat of her Ford Explore - adding there were no vents in the back of the auto to keep them cool.

In an affidavit, Cheeks admitted to placing the children in the pet kennels and transporting them from Whitehaven to Collierville to Downtown Memphis. I only met her like once maybe twice.

Cheeks is being charged with child endangerment, while police and Child Services continue their investigations.
