ScreenPad - A Touchscreen that Replaces the Touchpad in the Asus Zenbook Pro

Asus ZenBook S (UX391): ZenBook Gets a Lift

Asus’ New ZenBook Pros Have A Screen In The Touchpad

Asus has unveiled a new range of notebooks under the ZenBook and VivoBook series at the Computex 2018 in Taipei.

There are two devices in particular that we're talking about here: Project Precog and the new ZenBook Pro.

The latest iterations of the VivoBook series, the 14-inch screen S14 and 15.6-inch S15, will come in 5 colors and also feature ErgoLift hinges. With 178-degree viewing angles, 10-point multi-touch support, ASUS Pen support, and Windows Ink support, the ZenBook S is a versatile device capable of serious work and play. The notebook includes a fingerprint sensor as well. The ScreenPad can also be used to extend the laptop main screen to give you a second screen.

Nigeria's world cup kit wows the world
Footballers including Arsenal's Alex Iwobi and ex-Cheslea man Jon Obi Mikel will be donning the jerseys as they lead the side. With only one week to go before the World Cup kicks off, Nigeria have already emerged as the sartorial champions.

The VivoBook S shares a design element with the higher-end ZenBook S: ASUS's new "ErgoLift hinge", which moves the hinge for the lid forward a bit from the back, allowing the back edge of the laptop to prop up the base a few degrees for a more ergonomic typing experience plus improved ventilation. Both have Intel Core i7-8550U or Intel Core i3-8130U processors, a NVIDIA GeForce MX150 or MX130 GPU and up to 16 GB of memory. But that's not all because this particular display also features a colour calibration Delta E of less than 2 and can display 100% of the Adobe RGB colour gamut. Now supported apps include Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and YouTube, with support for other popular apps under development, such as ASUS Sync, which lets users control their phone via ScreenPad. Being a first attempt, this could be a make-or-break situation for Asus. They offer dual-storage designs, with S15 offering up to a 512GB SSD and 2TB HDD. In spite of being rather slim, the ZenBook S comes with a MIL-STD-810G military certification for its durability. In the new Zenbook Pro, ASUS has ditched the traditional touchpad and replaced it with a new touchscreen - the ScreenPad which ASUS says is "the world's first smart touchpad". The notebook comes with a 17.6mm profile weighing in at 1.5kg It has an 82 per cent screen-to-body ratio and is powered by the 8th Generation Intel Core i7 processor paired with 16GB of RAM.

While it seems like a gimmicky addition, early reports suggest the ScreenPad is both interesting and useful. On the connectivity front, the notebook includes USB Type-C, Thunderbolt 3 ports, gigabit-class Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 5.0.

ASUS has also focused more on the exterior design of this laptop.
