The booths, where re-polling took place, include 63 in Murshidabad, 52 in Coochbehar, 28 in West Midnapore and 10 in Hooghly among others.

Trinamool Congress (TMC) has till now won 110 seats and is leading on 1,208 seats in the West Bengal Panchayat election. The post-poll violence was reported on Tuesday from Howrah district, South 24 Parganas district and North 24 Parganas. TMC has won 274 seats and leading in 128.

While voting was initially scheduled to be held for 825 zilla parishad seats in 17 districts, no elections could be conducted in 203 seats where no Opposition candidate had entered the fray. The elections took place through ballot papers and not EVMs, the counting is expected to continue till evening and the final results will announce late evening. Reacting to the violence, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had called the election a "murder of democracy", a charge dismissed by the ruling Trinamool Congress. The Union home ministry has asked the West Bengal government to provide a detailed report on the violence during the polls. The West Bengal Panchayat Elections 2018 were held on Monday (May 14).
