Gary Houston, Whitney's elder brother, revealed to filmmaker Kevin Macdonald that the troubled singer's cousin, Dee Dee Warwick, allegedly sexually abused her as a child.

"So I think it was the combination of thinking there's this really interesting personal mystery, but also how this woman was a musical genius", Macdonald continued. Houston, who had a daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, with Bobby Brown, is said to have insisted on taking Bobbi on tour with her. Then it hit him that she reminded him on another movie of his, about child sexual abuse. Dee Dee died four years before Houston, in 2008.

The allegations were made in the documentary "Whitney", which was made with the cooperation of Houston's family.

Macdonald brought it up during an interview with Gary and his wife Pat Houston, who served as Whitney's manager.

Upon learning about the betrayal by her father, Houston was crushed and unfortunately, her marriage with Bobby Brown was also falling apart at that point of time.

Whitney, which is directed by the Scottish film-maker Kevin Macdonald, premiered at the Cannes film festival on Thursday. "There was something very disturbed about her, because she was never comfortable in her own skin", he told the publication. According to its synopsis, the film promises to be "an intimate, unflinching portrait of Houston and her family that probes beyond familiar tabloid headlines and sheds new light on the spellbinding trajectory of Houston's life".

Ebola vaccine arrives in DR Congo amid outbreak
Thousands of doses of an experimental Ebola vaccine arrived in Congo's capital this week, the health ministry said Wednesday. As of 15 May, a total of 44 Ebola virus disease cases have been reported: 3 confirmed, 20 probable, and 21 suspected.

"I thought that was a very odd thing, and it kind of reminded me of people I'd seen who had suffered from abuse, just in their body language and their sense of holding something back".

MacDonald also told Vanity Fair that Dionne Warwick has been informed of the accusation, but that "any negative feelings toward her would be completely wrong". She was a lovely woman, but she was never particularly sexy.

"Her voice, I was totally knocked out", says music industry magnate Clive Davis, who aided Houston's meteoric rise to stardom.
