An encounter broke out on Saturday between security forces and terrorists in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), a news agency ANI reported.

Police said the militants believed to be three in number managed to break the cordon during wee hours and escape from the spot. He said that the encounter continued for some time during the course of which a CRPF trooper namely Mandeep Kumar of 182 bn sustained critical injuries and was evacuated to 92 base hospital. Bashir Ahmad, who owns the house, sustained a shoulder injury.

On May 7, one CRPF personnel was injured after terrorists hurled a grenade at Tahab Chowk in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district.

The gunfight had started after a joined team of the Rashtriya Rifles, Special Operations Group of state police and the paramilitary troop launched a search and flush out operation, following information of militant presence. Meanwhile, police sources said that a civilian was also injured in the encounter.
