Google stole the show this week with a keynote catering to developers and end users alike, but on the second day of Build 2018, Microsoft gave Windows 10 users a great reason to tune back in.

Updates helping you support the Fluent Design System so that you can create immersive, deeply engaging experiences with Microsoft's updated design language.

Microsoft lists one of them as CVE-2018-8141, impacting Windows 10 and Windows Server (version 1709). As before, users will be able to group projects together in a single window by particular tasks.

Israel says Iranians in Syria fired missiles
There were no Israeli casualties. "The IDF sees this Iranian attack on Israel with severity", a spokesperson for the military Lt. Iran has vowed revenge after blaming Israel for a series of deadly airstrikes on Iranian positions in Syria.

The IE attacks were revealed in April by the Qihoo 360 Core Security team, which said a "double kill" vulnerability bundled with malicious Office documents was being used to compromise IE users on a "global scale". "Opening any malicious documents with "double kill" allows attackers to control victims' computers without their knowledge, making ransomware infection, eavesdropping and data leakage convenient and stealthy".

Microsoft is also taking this very seriously, writing, "The attacker could also take advantage of compromised websites and websites that accept or host user-provided content or advertisements".

While Microsoft's Build event has been dominating the news in the last number of days, the company's most recent Patch Tuesday release has fixed some pretty serious bugs. Taken together, this is a rather vast attack surface for enterprise users.

"This vulnerability allows an attacker who is logged onto a system to run a specially crafted file to gain privileged access to the system", explained Ivanti director of product management, security, Chris Goettl.

In the wake of Patch Tuesday is a cumulative update for Windows 10 version 1803, aka April 2018 Update, that's causing many PCs to remain in an infinite boot loop. Google rated the issue as a "medium" severity issue in part because other un-patched bypasses are publicly known while Microsoft rated the issue as "important".

Adobe also issued a patch for CVE-2018-4944, which allows for arbitrary code execution (at user level) if exploited. It exists in Windows 7, Windows RT, Windows 8.1, Windows 10, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2016. "An attacker who successfully exploited this (Win32k) vulnerability could run arbitrary code in kernel mode".

California will require solar power on nearly all new homes
The regulations include exceptions when solar panels aren't feasible - such as on a home shrouded in shade - or cost effective. The commission endorsed the requirement after representatives of builders, utilities and solar manufacturers voiced support.
