Steve Kerr: Spurs Were Like A Football Team Before Manu Ginobili Arrived

The Silver and Black are still kicking.

The Spurs dug deep, defended and came away with a much deserved win on Sunday afternoon over Golden State, 103-90, in Game 4 of their first round playoff series. Fortunately, the Spurs still have the 40-year old Manu Ginobili who carried the team over the line with 10 points in the fourth quarter to finish with 16 points and five assists for the game.

The Warriors put the ball in Kevin Durant's hands to start the third quarter, letting the former MVP create opportunities for himself and his teammates.

"The truth is, I didn't realize it was any different", Ginobili said.

The second quarter kept the game somewhat tighter.

Game 5 takes place on Tuesday, April 24 at 10:30 p.m. ET on TNT. Golden State swept the Silver and Black in last year's Western Conference finals.

'Toy drone' downed near royal palace in Riyadh
King Salman's palace in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Saturday was attacked by a drone which was later shot down. The spokesman said the measure would be temporary until the issuance of the regulation.

Things did not return to normal in Game 4 on Sunday, with Popovich yielding his seat for another game to Ettore Messina with the Spurs facing elimination. They got to within 2 points of the Spurs about halfway through the quarter.

For the first quarter, the Spurs played with some intensity.

"I think our guys wanted more". They simply outplayed the Warriors in this one, and as ESPN's Chris Haynes reported, the mood in the Golden State locker room after the game wasn't quite what we've become accustomed to with this group. Patty Mills sunk another one, while Manu Ginobili played like he was not the second-oldest player in the National Basketball Association.

Durant was the game leader with 12 points at the half. Thompson missed four of his first five shots, which included an airballed mid-range jumper. "Good luck", Warriors coach Steve Kerr said.

He led the team with 11 points at the half, while Aldridge and Rudy Gay each posted 10.

Shaun Livingston added 10 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals on 5-of-9 shooting off the bench, while Draymond posted nine points, 18 rebounds, nine assists and one steal.

Jake Guentzel scores 4 goals, Penguins advance
But one big difference between the two teams is the Pens, unlike the younger Flyers , didn't get deflated when they fell behind. Couturier rubbed some dirt, rather ice on it and got right back out there for Game 5 to help his team stave off elimination.

Game 4 now heads back to Oracle and Golden State will look to close out the series on Tuesday night.

The San Antonio Spurs entered the AT&T Center in a must-win situation. Though Klay's shooting was a significant issue, all of the starters except McGee shot poorly, and so the bigger issue in my view was that the ball wasn't moving, and the Warriors weren't manufacturing points the way they do best. The Warriors were 7 for 28.

Washington outscored Toronto by 19 points in the second half. Myles Turner and Victor Oladipo each scored 17, though Oladipo struggled through a poor shooting night. The Warriors racked up 5 turnovers in a bit over 4 minutes.

"I want to be careful here with my answer", said Kerr, who considers his four seasons (1998-2001, 2002-03) as a reserve guard with the Spurs integral to his professional development.

What do you think propelled the Spurs to their series saving win?
