The Xbox team announced today that connecting with friends and other players on the Xbox One will soon be much easier when the option to link your Discord account to the console is added. The lack of integrations with other consoles has been a common complaint, and many gamers would love to be able to have cross-platform chats with their friends while gaming.
The decision to allow Xbox One owners to link up their Discord and Xbox accounts comes as a result of players' feedback, according to the Xbox Wire post. PC users will see a similar option on their own Discord account through the "user settings" tab, which is accessible through the Discord app on either PC or mobile devices.
Spurs hold off Warriors to avoid a series sweep
Myles Turner and Victor Oladipo each scored 17, though Oladipo struggled through a poor shooting night. Game 4 now heads back to Oracle and Golden State will look to close out the series on Tuesday night.
Players will now have the option to link their Discord account to their Xbox account, allowing you to see what games your friends are playing no matter whether they're on PC or Xbox. Microsoft will be partnering with Discord in order to connect it to Xbox Live.
Microsoft says that the PC and Xbox One Discord support will be rolling out in the coming weeks, and will be available to members of the Xbox One Insider program soon, so if you're part of that program you'll be able to use it earlier than anyone else. Discord has around 100 million people signed up for accounts, and it is turning into the dominant social network for PC gamers. After enabling permission, your accounts will be linked. After either method, friends in the same Discord servers will be able to see what you're playing on Xbox Live.
