Pittsburgh Detectives Told To Bring Riot Gear To Work In Case Trump Fires Mueller

Michael Cohen, the embattled lawyer for President Donald Trump, has dropped a pair of lawsuits against BuzzFeed and the research firm Fusion GPS over the preparation and publication of a dossier that contained lurid allegations about the president.

The lawsuits claimed that the dossier - compiled by Christopher Steele as part of Fusion GPS's research on Trump and later published by BuzzFeed - falsely stated that Cohen went to Prague to meet with Russian officials during Trump's campaign.

Earlier this month, Cohen's office, hotel room, and home were raided by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

"The lawsuits against BuzzFeed over the Steele dossier have never been about the merits of our decision to publish it", Buzzfeed spokesman Matt Mittenthal said in a statement.

The power company own customer service center was out of service, it said, asking people to go online or use the phone. Concerns about the island's power grid mounts as June 1, the start of the 2018 Atlantic hurricane season, approaches.

Cohen's attorney said the "defendants defamed my client" and that "vindicating Cohen's rights" remains important.

Fusion GPS was the firm behind the dossier, and BuzzFeed published the document shortly before Trump's inauguration past year. "But given the events that have unfolded, and the time, attention and resources needed to prosecute these matters, we have dismissed the matters, despite their merits".

McClatchy's reporting has not been confirmed by any other news organizations.

BuzzFeed published the dossier in January 2017 and noted at the time that the allegations in the document had not bee substantiated. She claims the payment was in return for keeping quiet about an alleged affair with Trump.

Mueller or Rosenstein being fired has spurred members of Congress to push for legislation to protect the special counsel. Downing said the authorization came after a search warrant had already been executed in late July on Manafort's home.

In a court document filed Wednesday, Cohen's lawyer, David Schwartz, served notice that the lawsuit against BuzzFeed and four of its employees had been dropped.

Quoting anonymous sources within the Department of Justice, McClatchy reported that Department of Justice special counsel Robert Mueller found evidence that Cohen entered the Czech Republic through a section of Germany where the borders are open. The President's personal attorney has denied the meeting ever occurred.

The legal ground has shifted under Cohen's feet since he found himself under serious criminal investigation over his business deals, which may or may not have ties to the allgeed collusion of Trump's campaign with Russian Federation.

There was no immediate response on Thursday to a request for comment from his lawyers.
