Saul "Canelo" Alvarez has been banned for six months for failing drug tests, following a hearing held by the Nevada Athletic Commission.

Alvarez twice tested positive for clenbuterol, a banned performance-enhancing drug, in random urine tests conducted by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association in his hometown of Guadalajara, Mexico, on February 17 and February 20.

Golovkin called him a liar and implied he had always been a doper and accused him even further, stating he was doping during their first bout as well.

Per Rafael, the sanctioning body does have a rule allowing Golovkin to seek an exception to a mandatory fight, but the IBF seems to be dead set against giving Martirosyan a shot at their title.

In two samples taken on February 17 and 20, the Mexican tested positive for Clenbuterol.

Riyadh says open to sending troops to Syria
The U.S. now has 2,000 troops in Syria; it is believed that around 5,000-12,000 ISIS terrorists remain in the country. Saudi Arabia and the UAE are also potential resources, but are already bogged down in the conflict in Yemen.

Alvarez claimed he tested positive for clenbuterol only because he ate tainted meat in his native Mexico, However, Golovkin said Alvarez has a reputation for using performance-enhancing drugs.

Golovkin (37-0-1, 33 KOs), the crowd-pleasing Kazakh knockout artist, had originally been slated to fight Canelo Álvarez at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas in a rematch of their September blockbuster, which ended in a controversial split draw.

The unanimous decision Wednesday by five members of the commission came quickly, according to ESPN. "Alvarez denies intentionally taking clenbuterol or any other substances prohibited by the commission". The standard recommended suspension of one year was lessened because of Alvarez's cooperation with authorities.
