Almost 207 million eggs have been recalled after 22 people have become sick after eating them, according to the Federal and Drug Administration.
The recall by Rose Acre Farms is, according to Food Safety News, the largest in the United States since a 2010 recall also spurred by salmonella. Healthier individuals could experience fever, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting.
Acre chose to initiate the recall after at least 22 illnesses on the East Coast were traced back to its egg production farm in Hyde County, North Carolina, which produces 2.3 million eggs a day from 3 million laying hens.
