France, US, UK strike Assad regime targets in Syria

Speaking from the White House Friday night, President Donald Trump said the USA was "prepared to sustain this response until the Syrian regime stops its use of prohibited chemical agents".

And then on Friday night, the countries hit three targets - including one on the outskirts of Damascus - all related to Syria's chemical weapons program: a research center, a storage facility, and an equipment facility and command post.

In the aftermath of the attack, the western powers set out their justification for military action that was carried out without a mandate from the United Nations and in the face of criticism from Assad's allies Russian Federation and Iran. "Could not have had a better result", the President wrote at 8:21 a.m. in his first public statement since the strikes unfolded Friday night.

In coordination with Britain and France, Trump ordered air strikes against Bashar al-Assad's chemical weapons infrastructure Friday night.

So proud of our great Military which will soon be, after the spending of billions of fully approved dollars, the finest that our Country has ever had.

Speaking in Downing Street, Mrs May said the "limited and targeted strikes" had degraded Syria's ability to use chemical weapons.

Making the case for military action, the document further stated: "The UK is permitted under worldwide law, on an exceptional basis, to take measures in order to alleviate overwhelming humanitarian suffering... there is convincing evidence, generally accepted by the global community as a whole, of extreme humanitarian distress on a large scale, requiring immediate and urgent relief".

The goal, he said, was to hit the "very heart" of Syria's chemical weapons program by targeting its research, development and storage facilities.

Meanwhile, Syria said the targeted strikes will not stop the country from ridding itself of armed rebels.

"The Arab Republic of Egypt expresses its solidarity with the brotherly Syrian people in their aspirations to live in security and stability", the ministry said in a statement.

"For the U.K.'s part, four RAF Tornado GR 4's launched storm shadow missiles at a military facility some 15 miles (24 kilometres) west of Homs, where the regime is assessed to keep chemical weapons in breach of Syria's obligations under the Chemical Weapons Convention", she said.

"And we pray that God will continue to watch over and bless the United States of America", he said.

"We are prepared to sustain this response until the Syrian regime stops its use of prohibited chemical agents", the United States president said in a televised address.

The Syrian state media claims only one of the three targets in the early morning air strikes on Sunday, caused material damage.

"The Russian disinformation campaign has already begun".

The US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley said Mr Trump had told her that "the United States is locked and loaded" to strike again if Mr Al Assad used chemical weapons again.

While Russia and Syria sharply condemned the U.S., British and French attack, their initial response was verbal not military.

The president also blasted Iran and Russian Federation for supporting Assad's regime, particularly in the wake of the suspected chemical attack.

She said the air strikes should also act as a warning to Russian Federation. "The bombing maybe will also help in getting rid of the Assad regime and find a solution for the crisis by having new order that we the Syrian people want".
