In a statement provided to The Washington Post, Mason said that he was sacked in retaliation for accusing the Big3, and in particular co-founder Jeff Kwatinetz, of breaching his employment agreement. He added that Kwatinetz "has been engaged in a malicious, defamatory campaign of disparaging me in an attempt to prevent me from the performance of contractual duties and responsibilities".
TMZ Sports has obtained a letter the BIG3 sent to players, coaches and staff explaining the move: "We are writing to inform you of the decision by the BIG3 to terminate the employment of Roger Mason Jr. for cause under the terms of his employment agreement with the league".

The incident marked the rise of moral policing in the coastal town angering youngsters. Then Karnataka chief minister B.S.Yeddyurappa had termed the incident "unfortunate".
Mason released a statement Monday evening denying the claims against him and accusing the league of promoting a "hostile and racist" work environment.
The BIG3 went through a bit of a front office shakeup on Monday afternoon, as word came out that commissioner Roger Mason Jr. was sacked amid allegations of corruption stemming from his involvement with Qatari investors in the league. The work environment at BIG3 has been hostile and racist resulting in the departure of valuable League personnel.
"I am disappointed at the conduct of Ice Cube and other executives of Big3 in leveling these desperate manufactured claims against me", Mason said. In addition to playing in the NBA for 11-years, he was Deputy Executive Director of the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA), the first former player to ever accomplish such a high ranking position. This led to the league insinuating that Mason received these benefits and it corrupted his ability to be commissioner, according to TMZ. "I'm just happy I have the right people and partners to be able to provide the stage for them".

Assistant manager Carlos Compagnucci and assistant first-team coach Xavier Tamarit have also parted company with the south coast club.
"We were thrilled by how quickly fans embraced the league last season, and look forward to bringing them an even bigger and better BIG3 this year", BIG3 co-founder Jeff Kwatinetz said. And that could overshadow the BIG3's preparations for a second season, especially if Mason has anything to back up his claims against Kwatinetz.
To go with the league's stars from previous year like Kenyon Martin and Rashard Lewis, Big3 has added other big-name former N.B.A. players like Amar'e Stoudemire, Carlos Boozer, Quentin Richardson, Eddy Curry and even Greg Oden, the oft-injured former No. 1 overall N.B.A. draft pick.
