Last year Twitter became embroiled in scandal after admitting that more than one million of its users had been targeted by Russian trolls during the 2016 US presidential election. These rules were announced just to cut down on spam and stop the spreading of propaganda.

It is unclear whether the accounts will be suspended permanently, or whether Twitter will reinstate them in the future.

Twitter has banned several accounts known for stealing tweets and mass-retweeting posts, BuzzFeed reported.

Buzzfeed reported that numerous suspended accounts includes @Dory, @GirlPosts, @SoDamnTrue, @reiatabie, @commonwhitegiri, @teenagernotes, @finah, @holyfag, and @memeprovider. However, the accounts have reportedly been suspended for violating spam policies that forbid mass duplication and impersonation. These accounts are known as tweetdeckers, some with hundreds of thousands or even millions of followers. They gather in private Tweetdeck groups to plot out their plans to manufacture virality. As per Twitter's terms, it stated that "you may not post or share intimate photos or videos of someone that were produced or distributed without their consent". To be clear: Twitter prohibits any attempt to use automation for the purposes of posting or disseminating spam, and such behavior may result in enforcement action.

According to Verge, the new rules come after leaks that over 50,000 accounts linked to Russian backed organizations.

Twitter's CEO Jack Dorsey has recently made a revelation that the company is working towards fixing the recent series of cryptocurrency scams on its platform. Twitter's struggle to clean up its platform is highly appreciated.

WhatsApp extends Delete for All message time limit
The post points out that this will make sure no-one can illegally delete messages older than 24 hours for everyone. WhatsApp's recently introduced "Delete for Everyone" feature has now submitted a new update to the Apple App Store.

To comply with its own rules, Twitter updated Tweetdeck to remove the ability to retweet or like messages through several accounts simultaneously.

It's not certain if the suspensions are permanent.
