A 9-year-old boy accidentally shot and killed his sister in Milwaukee.

"Our preliminary investigation has revealed the victim's minor brother accidentally shot her", according to a news release from the Milwaukee Police Department.

A neighbor the Journal Sentinel that she believed multiple young children lived in the home in the east side of the city. She was smart, intelligent. Another neighbor said the family moved there about a year ago.

"They are not the type of people to put their kids in no type of danger or anything like that", he said.

Police said the brother was taken to the Milwaukee County Children's Court Center.

Police also say a 32-year-old man and 29-year-old woman are in custody. Milwaukee police will present the case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office in the coming days.
