DIMAPUR: In Dimapur, 517 booths were set up to administer the polio drops.

Elaborating on the arrangements, Dr. Basavaraj said that 1,51,850 children will be immunised in the taluks at 1,186 centres and 1,11,630 children at 402 centres in city thus adding up to 2,63,480 children at 1588 centres in the district.

The IPPI programme was also held at SDH Tral, SDH Pampore, Community Health Centre Rajpora and all medical blocks of the district.

Longleng: District Health Society, Longleng launched its 2nd phase IPPI at the District Hospital premises where chief medical officer (CMO), Dr. Kongyan Phom administered the first polio drops.

Around 10.50 lakh children, below the age of 5 years, will be vaccinated in the valley during the second phase of Intensified Pulse Polio Immunisation Programme (IPPIP), which was kick started on Sunday morning. 202 booths have been set up to immunize 9,629 children. The booth coverage of Longleng district was 5887. House to house polio vaccination will also be carried out for the rest of the week to immunize children who were missed on Sunday. As many as 3313 workers including Anganwari, ASHA and volunteers were deployed by the district administration for carrying out the campaign effectively.

He further said that 6,352 paramedics with 320 supervisors would administer the polio vaccine.

At Bandipora, the second round of the anti-polio campaign was launched by Chief Medical Officer by administering vaccines to children at the district hospital.

Taking to Twitter, the Country's Health Minister, J P Nadda wrote: "Various initiatives & schemes launched in recent decades have resulted in substantially bringing down the infant & maternal mortality rates rolled out from time to time & we have also been able to get rid of the dreaded diseases like polio".
