Streep noted Harvey undoubtedly was an incredibly hardworking man who was capable of creating Academy Award-winning films.

E! Online reports that Weinstein's lawyers have filed documents in relation to a proposed class-action lawsuit by six women against him, The Weinstein Company, Bob Weinstein and more quoting the actresses as proof that the class definitions in the lawsuit are "fatally overbroad" and should be "dismissed or stricken in their entirety".

The lawyers also claimed the lawsuit should be dismissed saying it is too broad and would include every woman he has ever met, citing actresses such as Streep and Lawrence who have not made allegations of sexual misconduct.

The Oscar victor previously said she had never heard rumors about Weinstein, despite decades of alleged assault.

"Here plaintiffs seek a nationwide class of 'all women who met with Harvey Weinstein in person to audition for or to discuss involvement in a project to be produced or distributed by either The Weinstein Company Holdings or Miramax, '" the attorneys say in court papers filed Tuesday. "The criminal actions he is accused of conducting on the bodies of these women are his responsibility, and if there is any justice left in the system he will pay for them", the star told Fox News in an emailed statement.

Meryl Streep said her relationship with Harvey Weinstein doesn't excuse his alleged behavior, despite his claims.

Weinstein's documents point out an interview by Lawrence in which she said, "Just speaking for myself, I had known him since I was 20, and he had only ever been nice to me-except for the moments that he wasn't, and then I called him an a-hole, and we moved on".

"Not every actor, actress, and director who made films that HW distributed knew he abused women, or that he raped Rose in the '90s, other women before and others after, until they told us", Streep said previous year.
