THQ Nordic buys Saints Row owner Koch Media

THQ Nordic announced today that it has acquired 100% of Koch Media's shares for €121 ($149 million).

In a move that's ever-so-slightly reminiscent of that scene in a horror movie where the monster picks up the arm that the heroes just lopped off and reattaches it, THQ Nordic have bought up Koch Media, who are often better known by their publishing label Deep Silver.

Koch Media will also continue to operate under the same name, and everything will carry on as usual. No restructuring or cost-saving programmes are now being planned.

Emirates to purchase A380 superjumbos for USD16bn
If the additional 16 options are firmed, this will extend Emirates A380 production to 2029. The new planes will be delivered from 2020, with engine options being evaluated.

Another interesting tidbit from the official press release is that THQ Nordic mentions that Saints Row and Agents of Mayhem developer Volition, acquired by Deep Silver in 2013, is now working on an unannounced AAA game.

THQ Nordic said it will "closely monitor and delegate resources" to Koch's games business "in order to ensure quality and a healthy return on investment on its large in-house development projects". In addition, THQ states that they expect increased profits from "at least two additional yet-to-be announced AAA titles", implying that at least one more unannounced title is in the works.

This acquisition by THQ Nordic means that not only do they now own Deep Silver but they also own the studio's Volition and Dambuster too.

'Poacher' eaten by lions he was tracking
As per the original report, the tractor he was driving did indeed break down, but he managed to walk to the compound safely. Lion and tiger bones and elephant and rhino horns are prized in Asia for their supposed restorative and virility powers.

"I strongly believe that THQ Nordic is a great strategic fit with Koch Media", Koch Media CEO, Dr. Klemens Kundratitz, adds. It also picks up Deep Silver's exclusive rights to the Metro games, which are developed by 4A.

It's an interesting case, not least because it sees Darksiders, a property already owned by THQ Nordic following the bankruptcy of THQ, reunited with several of its former stablemates.

Meanwhile, Nordic Games scooped up THQ's remaining assets during a second auction that Spring.
