Gains were supported after a police unit raided the home of the Gupta family, wealthy friends of Zuma, with local police reporting that one member of the family has been arrested. Zuma is also implicated in the case.
It is unclear whether Zuma is trying to strike an amnesty deal or if he is digging in his heels.
The ANC caucus in parliament chose to move the vote forward after it formally asked the president to resign on Tuesday.
Mulaudzi, confirmed the raid and that the police took part in it.
Zuma, 75, has denied any wrongdoing.
The ANC was badly rattled by its performance at the 2016 local elections when it won its lowest share of the vote since coming to power under the late Nelson Mandela in 1994.

He added that no date has been set for Zuma to step aside, and that there would be "continuing interaction" between ANC officials and the president. Unless he's removed from office, he will remain South Africa's president until at least 2019.
Zuma has survived several such votes in the past, but on those occasions he could count on loyal voting from ANC lawmakers, who form the majority in the Assembly.
