A shooting erupted Wednesday outside the suburban Washington headquarters of the National Security Agency, a secretive intelligence organisation responsible for global USA electronic eavesdropping, leaving at least one person injured, officials said. "We will continue to provide updates as they become available", their statement said.

Federal Bureau of Investigation officers from the Baltimore office are responding to the incident.

"The situation is under control and there is no ongoing security or safety threat".
