Michigan State Faculty Members Vote No Confidence in Board of Trustees

The Michigan State University Faculty Senate passed a vote of no confidence in the schools' Board of Trustees today (Tues.) Michigan Public Radio's Cheyna Roth reports.

Board members can not be forced from their positions based on the vote since they are serving eight-year terms and were chosen by the public, but the faculty voted 61-4 in favor of no confidence.

Germany's Natalie Geisenberger took home the gold medal once the competition resume, while American Erin Hamlin finished sixth. There were concerns that she may have suffered leg or spinal injuries in the crash.

The vote was called largely in response to the board's decision to name John Engler, a former MI governor, the school's interim president. Many have also criticized the lack of faculty input in the decision. Both faculty and students have recommended the board choose someone familiar with combating sexual abuse, following the sentencing of former MSU doctor, Larry Nassar. This was a sensationalized package of reporting that contained allegation and insinuations that we are now reviewing. The coaches were asked to refrain from comment while the reports were examined. Izzo said roughly the same, telling reporters: "As I said before, we'll cooperate with any investigation and always have".

Tuesday Senate Investigators released MSU's initial response along with those from USA Gymnastics and the US Olympic Committee.

Adam Rippon (left) and Eric Radford . "So proud to be wearing these medals and showing the world what we can do!" he wrote. Radford joined Australian diver Matthew Mitcham as the only openly gay Olympic champions to win gold at an Olympics.

"That has been a burden that must be lifted", Engler said in his letter.

Dantonio denied allegations of mishandling any sexual assault cases in a previously unscheduled news conference held hours after the Outside the Lines report was published. "I hope that MSU can soon repsond in full and affirm the integrity and probity that has been the hallmark of these two respected coaches". That's about all I'm going to say on it.

Having joined the club's academy at the age of eight, Mason spent 17 years as a Tottenham player before signing for Hull in 2016. Mason described the injury as "life-threatening" and said the decision, from a medical point of view, was a "no-brainer".

Izzo said again on Tuesday that he plans to address the report in the future, but offered no timeline on when that might happen.
