USA sanctions three individuals linked to Pakistan-based terror networks

The United States has designated three Pakistani-based militants as "global terrorists", as Washington heaps pressure on Islamabad to crack down on militants.

The US has designated three Pakistanis as key "terrorist facilitators" for providing logistical support, improvised explosive devices and technological assistance to Al Qaeda, Lashkar-e-Taiba and the Taliban, as well as for working closely with Shaykh Aminullah, a well-known backer of the three terror groups.

His remarks followed a questioned in which he was asked to comment about what the US President Donald Trump wrote on his Twitter account on January 1, 2018, bashing Pakistan for not having done enough against terrorism despite receiving $33 billion over a decade from the United States.

The other two men-Hizb Ullah Astam Khan (Hizb Ullah) and Dilawar Khan Nadir Khan (Dilawar) -are accused of acting on behalf of Sheikh Aminullah, who was sanctioned in 2009 for providing material support to al-Qaida and the Taliban.

Hizb Ullah served as a financial official of a Peshawar-based madrasa that was co-founded by Aminullah. "As of early 2015, Hizb Ullah provided assistance to Shaykh Aminullah during Shaykh Aminullah's travel in the Gulf".

Early last month, the US government announced it was suspending security assistance to the Pakistani military until it took "decisive action" against the Afghan Taliban and the Haqqani network that are operating in neighboring Afghanistan. It said he was previously a bomb expert for Aminullah in eastern Afghanistan and shipped bomb-making chemicals from Pakistan to Afghanistan.

Dilawar Khan Nadir Khan (Dilawar) was responsible for handling Aminullah's accommodations in Pakistan and relaying his messages.
