23-yr-old Delhi photographer killed by girlfriend's family, 3 held

Ankit Saxena had been dating the 20-year-old Shehzadi over the last three years.

"Security has been tightened and additional police force has been deployed due to sensitiveness of the matter as the deceased and the girl belonged to different communities", said Vijay Kumar, DCP (west), according to a report in The Hindu.

It is alleged that the girl's family members killed her boyfriend and police have arrested her father, uncle and mother.

The girl's father and uncle reportedly kicked and punched the 23-year-old victim, who was a photographer by profession, before slitting his throat while the brothers of the girl held his arms. "She told us she was no longer in touch with Ankit, but her father learnt on Wednesday that she was secretly in touch with the boy", the aunt said. "Others in the neighbourhood are blaming us for the murder and are demanding our ouster from the colony.' She added that no one has been allowed to meet the family members who are in police custody, and conjectured that they would have to move back to their village in Saharanpur in UP because their safety was no longer assured in Raghubir Nagar".

The mother of the boy who has a broken rib from the attack added that the girl's mother pushed her on the footpath and kicked her on the chest. "So, they called Ankit and asked him to meet them". The family also accused the victim of abducting their daughter and turned a deaf ear to his mother's pleas. Police sources said that the CCTV footage recovered from the spot showed the 23-year-old photographer engaged in an argument with the father and uncle for almost half an hour before they pushed him to the ground and kicked him in the groin.
