A new report suggests that Black Widow writer Jac Schaeffer may collaborate with Scarlett Johansson next month

Things We'd Love To See In The 'Black Widow' Movie

Citing unnamed sources, reports reveal that Marvel president Kevin Feige has met with several candidates and ultimately tapped "The Blacklist" alum Jac Schaeffer to pen the potential spin-off.

Black Widow has been an important player in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since she was introduced in 2010's Iron Man 2. Marvel's reluctance to do a female-led superhero movie is quite outstanding especially considering the fact that they already have a great female hero to chose from in Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow.

The project is reportedly only in its neonatal stage with Jac Schaeffer being hired for writing a script. Schaeffer first found ground with her feature screenwriting debut "TiMER", which she also directed.

What started as a silly internet meme has morphed into the #TidePodChallenge - a dare that challenges people to eat laundry detergent pods.

Schaeffer wrote the remake of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, titled Nasty Women, which will be made this year and will star Anne Hathaway, Rebel Wilson, Meena Rayann and Munich co-star Francisco Labbe. Johansson herself said she would want to make it happen, as has Marvel boss Kevin Feige - reiterating a year ago that the company is "creatively and emotionally" committed to developing the spin-off.

At the moment the project hasn't been officially greenlit, but this is a good development for the Black Widow movie. Kevin Feige later said that Black Widow was one of the characters that Marvel Studios is "creatively and emotionally" committed to giving solo movie attention to in Phase Four.

When we last left off with Black Widow in Captain America: Civil War, she had gone on the run from the USA government after helping Captain America and Winter Soldier escape to track down Helmut Zemo.
