Former McDonald's All-American Brian Bowen is enrolling at the University of SC and applying for reinstatement from the NCAA, his attorney confirmed to Yahoo Sports on Wednesday evening.
Bowen was identified as "Player-10" in the Federal Bureau of Investigation report.
Bowen says he knew nothing about the payment, but Louisville suspended him indefinitely, and gave him the opportunity to transfer.
Federal documents contend that Adidas funneled $100,000 to an unnamed player, later identified as Bowen, to sign with Louisville at the request of a Cardinals coach.
China Premier Li Keqiang says 2017 GDP growth expected around 6.9 percent
His figure is slightly better than the 6.8 percent forecast by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, a top state think tank. He said the project is set to start this year and will take at least 44 months to complete.
"There's no way I'm involved in it", Bowen said to Goodman.
USC athletics director Ray Tanner said: "What better coach is there to help Brian grow as a student-athlete and more importantly as a young man than Frank Martin and his staff?"
The five-star recruit and Saginaw native has enrolled at his new school, and now will await word from the NCAA on reinstatement, in hopes of playing college basketball next year.
That's a big reason, Martin said, Bowen and his family settled on SC for the highly regarded 6-foot-7 forward's next basketball chapter.
Quique Sanchez Flores: Stoke want Espanyol's ex-Watford boss to replace Hughes
Quique Sanchez Flores is expected to tell Espanyol today that he's leaving them to take the reins at Stoke City . Obviously the owners want to make sure it's the right person, which can be hard .
"Brian is an exceptional young man and a basketball player with a very high IQ for the game", Martin said.
Meanwhile, both Bowen and SC officials expressed happiness with his new situation. The FBI eventually cleared him. He is a strong, athletic small forward, who can really shoot the ball and rebound. The 6-foot-7 wing from La Lumiere School in La Porte, Ind., was a high school teammate of fellow 5-star forward Jaren Jackson, who committed to Michigan State and has already firmly entrenched himself atop National Basketball Association draft boards for next June.
"Brian deserves a fresh start, and I would like to thank our university administration, President (Harris) Pastides, our board of trustees and Ray Tanner for their hard work and guidance in helping Brian become a member of our Gamecock family".
SC has struggled a bit in its follow-up to a Final Four appearance last season, as Martin's squad is 10-5 and 1-2 in SEC play. One of the coaches was Oklahoma State assistant Lamont Evans, who was a member of Martin's SC staff from 2012-16.
