Durbin Says Graham Confronted Trump on 'Shithole' Comments with 'Extraordinary Political Courage'

United States President Donald Trump reportedly lashed out in a meeting with lawmakers about immigration reform, demanding to know why the U.S. should accept citizens from what he called "s***hole" countries, such as Haiti and El Salvador, as well as African nations.

"Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?" the Washington Post quoted him as saying, in remarks first reported to be about Haiti, El Salvador and African nations.

As the controversy continued on Friday, Mr Trump delivered a scheduled speech to mark Martin Luther King day from the Roosevelt Room in the White House.

"Yesterday Senator Durbin and I met with President Trump at the White House to discuss our bipartisan proposal on border security and immigration".
