This is the incredible moment a man tearfully confesses on television to the murder of a teenager 25 years ago.

He refused to answer any questions about the case itself but told KRCR he wanted people to know that he had found God, and that is what led him to finally do the right thing and confess.

Brian Keith Hawkins, 44, confessed on Tuesday to the killing of Frank Wesley McAlister, 19, who was stabbed to death during a robbery in 1993, Redding police said.

The that Hawkins met with Redding police on Tuesday.

Hawkins also named 46-year-old Shanna Culver and her brother 45-year-old Curtis Culver as accomplices.

Hawkins told officials he and Curtis Culver stabbed McAllister to death, and dumped his body in the woods in rural, mountainous Shasta County.

Investigators say the motive for the murder was robbery.

A MS judge attempted to dismiss the charges against most of the defendants, but the Supreme Court later reversed the decision. The men were detained by police, before being ambushed and shot by Klansmen who were tipped-off about their release.

A hiker found McAllister's remains a year later, police said.

Hawkins, Shanna Culver and Curtis Culver were booked on charges of murder and are being held at the Shasta County Jail.

An insurance settlement McAlister received prior to his slaying ― approximately $4,500 from a auto accident ― might have been a motive in his death, according to the Redding Record Searchlight.

Investigators learned quickly that Hawkins and the Culver siblings were acquainted with McAlister and may have been the last people to see him, having claimed that he dropped them off at a park in Redding on the day McAlister went missing, the complaint says.

All three individuals now reside in the Shasta County jail-on charges of murder, robbery and burglary.

"Today, the man that did it confessed, and he and two others will now be brought to justice", McAlister's uncle, Jon McAlister, .

"All three ... were contacted and interviewed multiple times by investigators during the past 25 years, however all three maintained their innocence", the complaint says. "I know the wrong can't be changed but this is the closest I can come to doing the right thing ..."
