BCCI suspends allrounder Yusuf Pathan for 'inadvertent' doping violation

Pathan consumed the banned substance without proper authorisation. Nor he or his team doctor took the prior permission before using the drug

Yusuf Pathan fails dope test; BCCI tells Baroda to drop him

"Mr Pathan had provided a urine sample as part of the BCCI's anti-doping testing program during a domestic T-20 competition on 16 March 2017 in New Delhi".

BCCI has been under pressure from Indian government's anti-doping watchdog, NADA, to conduct the tests on Indian cricketers. Pathan explained that he had not consumed the substance intentionally but since he was on the medicinal course due to a throat infection, he had consumed the substance.

Pathan only played one match for his team in Ranji Trophy this year before the Baroda's state association was asked by the BCCI to not pick Yusuf. Pathan has been banned for the presence of Terbutaline, a beta-2 agonist present in the 2017 list of WADA-specified prohibited substances, from August 15, 2017. He was handed an ODI debut next year, also against Pakistan in Dhaka. But the 26-year-old was later thrown out of the Games Village by WADA and banned for six years.

Republian majority in US Senate narrowed as new Dem
Among those close to her, Smith is known for cajoling Dayton in a certain direction rather than confronting him toe-to-toe. As always, there is no claim so stupid that you can't find a wingnut who will make it with a totally straight face.

Confirming the same, on Tuesday, the BCCI released a statement saying that Pathan has been suspended after being charged with "commission of an Anti-Doping Rule Violation (ADRV) under the BCCI Anti-Doping Rules (ADR) Article 2.1 and provisionally suspended pending determination of the charge".

"Yusuf Pathan has been suspended for a doping violation".

BCCI reasoning was simple that "Board was satisfied with Pathan's explanation that the substance entered his body through medication while taking a cough syrup and not as a performance-enhancing drug".

Spurs try for 13th straight win over 76ers
It will not be the prettiest of games, but the Spurs will extend their win streak over the 76ers to 13 games with a 98-93 victory. Popovich, whose.694 winning percentage is fourth-best among coaches with at least 250 games, broke a tie with George Karl.

After seeking expert advise the BCCI accepted the justification furnished by Yusuf Pathan and on the basis of that stated that the five-month period of ineligibility shall apply along with the disqualification of some results. I have always competed in a fair and transparent manner.

Sources said August 15 was the date BCCI chose to send the NDTL report to an independent review board seeking reaffirmation that worldwide standards for testing were followed and there was no departure from a possible Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE). It is learnt that Pathan failed the test during a domestic T20 tournament previous year. The board chose to backdate it after Pathan's promptly admitted the ADRV when confronted by BCCI, who came to the conclusion that the delays in the results management, in this case, would not be "attributable to Mr. Pathan".

Pathan's ban will end on January 14, having started on August 15 previous year. The board, however, had made it clear that it will not budge from its anti-doping policies and will not allow any agency's diktats.
