Elina Svitolina crushes Sasnovich in straight sets to lift Brisbane International title


The first racket of Ukraine Elina Svitolina will compete for the title in Brisbane for the WTA Premier event with a prize Fund of $894,700.

Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina got the ideal boost ahead of the Australian Open by lifting the Brisbane International women's singles title with a 6-2, 6-1 win over qualifier Aliaksandra Sasnovich here, Saturday.

Svitolina is set to rise to fourth in the WTA rankings on Monday and has now won her last six finals.

The 23-year-old extended an apology to the crowd after the one-sided affair. Sasnovich did not have a single break point opportunity while Svitolina continued to carve a number of opportunities for herself.

The dominance of Elina Svitolina never wavered in the second set.
