BYU to hire Jeff Grimes as offensive coordinator

According to FootballScoop.com, LSU is expected to lose OL coach Jeff Grimes to BYU.

Cregg is a first-year assistant offensive line coach with the Chargers, and he spent the three previous seasons with the Denver Broncos.

Grimes, 49, earns an annual salary at LSU of $550,000.

It is also yet to be determined who on the current offensive coaching staff would be maintained or if Grimes would bring in an entirely new group. Grimes spent 2004-06 as BYU's O-line coach.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo wants to take guns from domestic abusers
Right now judges are given discretion on whether to confiscate guns when an order of protection is issued against a person. "What it says, is if you are convicted of a domestic violence offense you have to surrender your guns", Cuomo said.

LSU expects Grimes to accept the job as BYU's offensive coordinator, ending his four-season tenure at the school.

Grimes has held offensive line positions at Boise State, Arizona State, BYU, Colorado, Virginia Tech, Auburn and LSU since 2000. "After two years there, he moved on to the college ranks, first working as a graduate assistant at Rice (1995) and then at Texas A&M (1996-97)".

Also, three junior starters on the offensive line - center Will Clapp, guard Garrett Brumfield, tackle Toby Weathersby - are draft-eligible.

Grimes is expected to remain on LSU's staff through the Tigers' game against Notre Dame in the Citrus Bowl on January 1.

Grimes leaves for LSU's season-opening opponent this past season.

If hired, Grimes would take over one of the worst offenses in the country past year under the leadership of Ty Detmer, who was relieved of his offensive coordinator duties on November 27th. In a stretch of seven years, from 2007-13, LSU had just two offensive linemen drafted - a startling number that caused a coaching change, many believe.

"In 2016, Grimes' offensive line allowed only 19 sacks and blocked for a ground game that ranked No. 4 in the SEC with 233.0 yards a contest".
