Prince Charles honors Ed Sheeran

'I don't have a vast amount of talent': Ed Sheeran, 26, is honoured with an MBE at Buckingham Palace... but humble artist says he owes his success to 'persistence'

Ed received the MBE (Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) for his services to music.

The 26-year-old was presented with the honour from Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace.

The "Shape of your" hit-maker has worked with a range of charities like an organization East Anglia's Children's Hospices, which he supports as an ambassador and has the Duchess of Cambridge as its royal patron.

The singer mentioned that he would love to play at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding reception.

Today Ed Sheeran was made an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) by The Prince of Wales.

Sheeran's "New York concert" tomorrow (Dec. 8) is the Z100 Jingle Ball at Madison Square Garden.

The MBE has a lot of personal meaning for Sheeran, too: His late grandfather, Bill, was a "massive royalist" - i.e. a massive fan of the Royal family - and this MBE would be a huge deal to him, who passed away in 2013.

The Grammy Award victor spoke about his grandfather Bill Sheeran after the ceremony, saying he would be proud of his medal.

'I think talent is like 30% of it and persistence, drive and self belief are the other ones, which I guess are all the same thing'.

"I think it's persistence", Sheeran, who was recently forced to cancel tour dates due to arm injuries sustained in a bicycle accident, insisted.
