YouTube Recaps the Trends of the Year with "The Shape of 2017"



Today, YouTube announced its most-watched music videos of 2017.

"Some bad actors are exploiting our openness to mislead, manipulate, harass or even harm", Wojcicki said, adding that YouTube's trust and safety teams have reviewed almost 2 million videos for violent extremist content over the past six months.

2017 also saw some major new records broken in music, most notably by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's massive global hit. The show, called The Mask Singer, requires performers to wear elaborate masks to hide their identities.

Its machine learning algorithms have helped remove more than 150,000 videos from YouTube since June that depict violent extremism. She did not say how many people now monitor YouTube for offensive videos.
