The Redmi 5 price will start at $199.99 (roughly Rs. 12,900) for the 2GB RAM and 16GB storage model, according to an AliExpress listing.

The Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus is rumoured to feature a 5.9-inch full HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 18:9.

The both Xiaomi device, Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus will retain the overall design of present Redmi series with metal body and also have a fingerprint sensor.

Xiaomi has won many hearts at home and overseas with its wide range of smartphones. It is expected to be powered by a Snapdragon 625 or 630 SoC coupled with either 3GB or 4GB of RAM with 32GB and 64GB storage, respectively.

Both the phones come with a Snapdragon octa-core CPU. It is also said that the Redmi 5 Plus will arrive in just two variants- 3GB+32GB and 4GB+64GB.

Xiaomi earlier this week released images of the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus ahead of their December 7 launch, giving us a pretty good look at the design of the upcoming budget phones. The phone will sport a 12MP camera on the rear while a 5MP camera on the front. Xiaomi has remained mum on the specs and pricing so far, barring some key confirmations such as the 18:9 display, MIUI 9, and a massive battery. The Redmi 5 Plus is expected to be bigger than this.

The Redmi 5 is expected to feature a 3,200 mAh, while the Redmi 5 Plus is said to pack in a 4,000 mAh battery.

Considering Xiaomi Redmi 4 costs just Rs. 6,999, it may come as a disappointment for many to spend twice as much for a smartphone that only offers a tall FullView display.
