NBC's 'Today' show ratings jump after Lauer firing

The toys came up in 2016 on an episode of the since-canceled "Meredith Vieira Show", and the segment was reported on again last week after Lauer was sacked amid sexual-misconduct allegations.

Vieira, who at one time co-hosted the "Today" show, ribbed him for the "huge bag of sex toys" that she once found in his office.

Dr. Berman revealed that Lauer didn't want to step outside to buy sex toys from the stores. The report claims that during Lauer's 20 years at Today, he immediately "killed off" any man who could potentially succeed him, including at one point, Billy Bush, David Gregory and Josh Elliott.

'We were in the makeup room and he sort of asked the makeup artist to leave, ' Berman told Inside Edition. He confided in me about some of the struggles he was having in his married relationship'.

Laura Berman confirmed Lauer's story days after a segment from a 2016 episode of "The Meredith Vieira Show" resurfaced to show Vieira reminiscing about the time she discovered the adult items in Lauer's closet.

"I brought him a shopping bag filled with toys from my line that were designed for couples, spicing things up", she said.

She has also written several books on "sexual health and pleasure".
