Less than 24 hours after Jerry Jones said that a new contract for Roger Goodell wouldn't be getting done this week, the NFL's 32 owners chose to do one anyway.

The league's compensation committee sent a letter to owners on Wednesday, according to multiple reports, which stated that the 'binding contract extension has been signed by the Commissioner and by Arthur Blank, on behalf of the League entities'.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones had been fighting to prevent, or at least delay, Goodell's contract extension but he apparently didn't have almost enough support from his fellow owners.

Jones' problem starts with Goodell; the two have been at odds since Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott was suspended.

According to the report there was reportedly a "nearly unanimous consensus" among owners to re-sign Goodell.

Blank is a member of the committee and the owner of the Atlanta Falcons.
