Shocking images Wednesday showed the scene as drivers took to the 405 freeway in the Los Angeles area.
Hundreds of USA firefighters were battling to save homes Tuesday as a dynamic brush fire driven by strong winds exploded to at least 4,000 acres in hours in Southern California. More than 600 firefighters battled the blaze amid strong Santa Ana winds, some gusting at 70 miles per hour.
The blaze, dubbed the Creek Fire, was first reported as a 100-acre fire in the area of Gold Creek and Little Tujunga Canyon roads.
Meanwhile, the Creek Fire, which broke out near Sylmar and Lakeview Terrace in Los Angeles - was estimated to have grown to at least 11,377 acres.

But by early afternoon, the eastern border of the evacuation area had been enlarged to the Haynes Canyon area.

UPDATE: (8:00 a.m.) According to Getty Museum Twitter, The Getty Center is closed to the public today. Both were closed for the day, as was Santa Monica College and all schools in the Santa Monica-Malibu school district.
