Shawn Mendes, Eminem and U2 among winners at MTV Europe Music Awards

Shawn Mendes was the major victor at the MTV EMAs this weekend.

Stormzy had a good night at the MTV European Music Awards on Sunday 12 November - he won the award for best worldwide act for United Kingdom and Ireland and performed to thousands of fans at the ceremony in London.

Sheeran was among a number of British winners on the night as he capped a whirlwind 12 months - which has seen him release his acclaimed third album, Divide, and headline Glastonbury - with a win the best live category.

Other winners at the event, which celebrates the global music scene, included Coldplay (for best rock act), Dua Lipa (for best new act) and Zayn (for best look).

The star-studded ceremony at the SSE Wembley Arena saw performances from grime star Stormzy, pop group Clean Bandit and former One Direction member Liam Payne.

Rita Ora took comfort to the next level on the MTV European Music Awards red carpet.

British doctor punches shark in face to halt attack
Mr Fry told the Today show he was out surfing with three friends when he felt a "massive thud". 'I instantly just jumped away. Mr Fry said he punched the shark while in the water before climbing back on his board and surfing to shore.

Notable performances included local London grime star Stormzy, who took to the stage poking out of the sunroof of a police vehicle, and Travis Scott, who entered standing atop what looked like a floating hawk.

Other winners included Camila Cabello, who took the "Best Pop", and rapper Kendrick Lamar won "Best Video" for "Humble".
