Jerry Jones Not Backing Down in Goodell Contract Fight AP

Jones is mad at Goodell for two main reasons.

Before all this, reports would surface that National Football League owners were planning to "punish" Jones if he didn't step back.

The New York Times reported on Monday that the league's compensation committee sent Jones a cease-and-desist warning.

Dawood Ibrahim's properties auctioned for Rs 11.58 crores
If sources are to be believed, the property was bought in name of Dawood's first wife Mehjabeen. Damarwala building was home to Dawood Ibrahim and his family members in late eighties.

Goodell's push for an extension has been met with opposition from team owners including the Dallas Cowboys' Jerry Jones who say the timing of the extension could be a public relations disaster. Jones, who had been a nonvoting member of the committee, was immediately thrown out of the group after he threatened to sue the six other owners. Jones has reportedly been unhappy with Goodell since the league suspended Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott over domestic violence allegations.

Jones, however, is not backing down.

Appearing on 105.3 The Fan (h/t Roy White III of Shan and RJ), Jones said, "I've had not one inkling of communication with the league office or any owner that would suggest something that laughable and ridiculous". We've got all the time in the world to extend him. If Jones can rally more support, his stance against Goodell may still take several more turns.

Belson's latest article also mentions something that PFT has consistently reported, and that others in the media have pooh-poohed: Some owners believe that Jones instigated Papa John's CEO John Schnatter to publicly disparage the league during a recent earnings conference call, blaming reduced corporate revenues on the NFL's current controversies and ratings declines.

Jones' efforts to derail the five-year extension for the commissioner, which has been in the works for months and is almost complete, has annoyed a growing number of owners, who are angry that Jones has tried to hold Goodell's compensation hostage as a way to punish the commissioner for his decision to suspend Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott.
