'He had demons': Ex-wife of Texas church shooter speaks out

Texas church shooting 'a horrific sight'

Texas church shooter held gun to ex-wife's head over speeding ticket in pattern of abuse

An ex-wife of Devin Kelley, who authorities have identified as the gunman responsible for the mass shooting at a church in Sutherland Springs, Texas, earlier this month, described his alleged abuse in a television interview.

Brennaman married Kelly in April 2011, and they were divorced in October 2012 after their rocky marriage became too much to handle.

She says that Kelley once pointed a gun at her and asked, "Do you want to die?"

"He told me, 'You know, if you do this, I am going to kill you and your entire family.'" She adds, "He's like, 'I could just bury you somewhere in the desert and no one would ever find you'". "He would make jokes about wanting to kill somebody", she said.

The Air Force could be sued for millions of dollars over the recent church shooting in Texas, which left 26 dead and stunned the small town of Sutherland Springs.

Afterwards, Kelley would warn her against seeking help.

Judge unanimous choice for AL Rookie of Year
The previous record of 38 had been held by Frank Robinson, who earned the 1956 NL Rookie of the Year Award, and Wally Berger. Judge, 25, is also a finalist for the AL MVP (which will be announced Thursday) after leading the AL in home runs with 52.

In November 2012, Kelley, then 23, pleaded guilty to hitting, choking, kicking and pulling her hair, as well as fracturing the skull of her young son from a prior relationship.

Kelley was in the Air Force at the time.

The obsession was so pronounced, Edwards said, that when Kelley was disciplined for poor performance she told her bosses to "back off or he would shoot the place up".

Kelley served one year in military prison for his actions and was discharged from the Air Force for bad conduct.

The mother-in-law sometimes attended services at the church, but she wasn't there the day of the shootings. "He went on and on and on about it, saying 'Isn't it cool?"

New high blood pressure guidelines
But the report's authors predicted that relatively few of those who fall into the new hypertensive category will need medication. The change means that 46 percent of USA adults, many of them under the age of 45, now will be considered hypertensive.

About 100 people gathered Saturday outside the community center for the ceremony, where a wreath was placed near flags to remember those killed last weekend.

Wilson County Judge Richard Jackson's voice broke as he thanked the first responders and others who rushed to First Baptist Church in the aftermath of the shooting.

An Air Force official has said that 12 of the victims had direct connections to the Air Force, "either members or with family ties".

Kelley died of what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound after armed civilians chased him from the scene of the massacre.

The basis for a lawsuit could stem from the fact that the Air Force failed to enter the shooter Devin Kelley's information into an Federal Bureau of Investigation database after he had been convicted in 2012 of domestic violence, which would have prohibited him from possessing firearms, Stars and Stripes reports.
