The House and Senate have released competing bills, neither of which ends the individual Obamacare mandate to maintain insurance coverage or lowers the top rate almost as far as the president requested on Monday.
The markets are now mostly downbeat following the release of the Republican Senate's proposed tax cuts that revealed its pushed back schedule and implementation as well as plans of the Senate to drop a number of taxes on both corporate and individuals. King also appeared on Fox News this Sunday, and said he is opposing the current bill because of the elimination of the state and local tax deductions.
Trump praised new bills in the House and Senate, called the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA), but suggested a few improvements. That provision will nearly certainly meet resistance from Republican House members in high-tax states such as New York, New Jersey and California.
Saudi Arabia reportedly holding ex-Lebanese prime minister against his will
Ibrahim al-Masri, a 37-year-old Hariri supporter, said the Lebanese didn't know if it was Hariri's choice to stay in Saudi Arabia. In the week of Mr Hariri's resignation, dozens of officials and royals were rounded up in the kingdom on corruption charges.
On Monday, the president called for major changes to the tax plans now working their way through Congress.
The deduction is particularly important to residents in states with high property values or tax rates. Republicans control both the House and the Senate.
"Both the House and the Senate bills would raise taxes on millions of middle-class families, particularly in the suburbs, while providing a huge giveaway to corporations and the wealthy", Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer said. "That's how we're going to pay for the tax bill", Cohn said on Fox's "Sunday Morning Futures".
Pak Army Captain, sepoy martyred in cross-border attack from Afghanistan
Four Pakistani soldiers were wounded in the attack on a military post in the northwestern region of Bajaur, the army said. The incident comes days after a similar attack on a checkpost at the border in Rajgal Valley left one sepoy martyred.
Rep. Peter King, a Long Island Republican who has been among the most vocal opponents of the planned repeal of state and local tax breaks, said he remains committed to trying to preserve them. That highlights some distance between the House and Senate on one of the most contentious components of the GOP tax reform package, but it's not quite as dramatic as it might sound. The House would keep the highest income-tax bracket at 39.6 percent.
The news comes as Senate Republicans begin their markup of their plan Monday afternoon and House Republicans plan to bring their bill to the floor for a vote later this week. By doing so, the GOP could then chop the top individual income tax rate to 35 percent with "all the rest going to middle income cuts", the president contended.
O'Neill praises Randolph's heroics against Denmark
He added with a smile: "It was a shame that when I came in here, Robbie Keane was the same age as me, unfortunately". A couple of great Brazilian players, the best players in the world, downed tools and didn't take a penalty.
