The new, high-performance version of the sports auto has seen some major revisions - the main feature being the engine from the bigger Evora GT430.

Compared to the previous "bestest" Exige - the Cup 380 - the new model makes 15%, or 55 hp and 30 Nm, more power.

The latest fire-breathing road-legal racing auto to roll out of Lotus's tiny production facility, the Exige Cup 430: Unlimited Edition, offers extreme levels of acceleration, grip and handling, but best of all, it's set to be a standard, full-production model rather than a limited-run special edition.

Power comes courtesy of the same supercharged 3.5-liter Toyota V6 found in Exige 380, but as the name suggests, output has been amplified from 380 horsepower (283 kilowatts) up to 430 horsepower (320 kilowatts). The unit is linked as standard to a close-ratio, six-speed manual transmission with the famous open-gate design. Now with a redline of 7,000rpm, the Exige's 430hp and 325lb ft are sufficient for a 3.3-second sprint to 62mph and a 180mph top speed.

The company Lotus introduced the Exige extreme vehicle in the history of the model.

To enhance the overall driving dynamics the car's aero has also been reworked to provide up to 220kg of downforce at higher speeds.

All of this has led to the Exige Cup 430 becoming the fastest production vehicle around Lotus' Hethel test track with a lap time of 1:24.8 - 1.2 seconds faster than the previous record-holding Lotus 3-Eleven.

Handling-wise, the Exige Cup 430 has things covered thanks to tricks such as a revised steering arm geometry, new Nitron three-way adjustable dampers, and Eibach adjustable front and rear anti-roll bars.
