Freeholder-elect Ashley Bennett appears on MSNBC after defeating John Carman

Womens March Politician Challenged

Ashley Bennett was offended by a politician's sexist joke. So she ran for his seat — and won.

John Carman, a Republican member of the Atlantic County Board of Chosen Freeholders, a county legislative body in New Jersey, posted a meme on his Facebook page in January making fun of the Women's March.

In the fraught days surrounding Trump's inauguration, this turned out to be an epically failed attempt at "reading the room", as they say.

The 32-year-old EHT resident is a graduate of Rutgers University and works as a psychiatric emergency screener in the crisis department at Cape Regional Hospital. He said the meme was a "bad choice" but that women he knows were "strong and confident" enough not to take it personally, according to the AP. His pathetic "joke" would be seen by the woman who yesterday unseated him.

Viral Air Force Racism Story is a Hoax
The subject of the lecture was racial slurs that had been discovered scrawled outside the dorm rooms of five black cadets. An investigation by the Air Force Academy found the African-American cadet who reported the message wrote it himself.

Looks like Carman now has plenty of time to make his own damn dinner. "You had the entire time to sit and collect your thoughts, and hear what people were saying, and instead of apologizing and saying you could do better, you disrespect people", she said.

Bennett beat Carman by 1,000 votes out of 14,000 cast for the seat, reports The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Still, Carman's response to the controversy upset Bennett, and she said on MSNBC that she made a decision to run shortly after the meeting.

"I'm so humbled and so grateful to be able to run in the community where I was born and raised and went to high school", she said.

He later drew more criticism for wearing a Confederate flag patch. "It's called humor." The trouble with saying "it's called humor" is that sometimes the butt of the joke gets the last laugh.

All Signs Point To Big Little Lies Coming Back
Kelley told the same publication that Season 2 is close to being renewed. "It's just a lot of logistical things", he explained. If you are a fan of " Big Little Lies " and wondering when the season two will air, then we might have some good news for you.
