Ezekiel Elliott settlement seems unlikely

A tentative docket entry in the Southern District of NY indicates that a preliminary injunction hearing before Judge Failla is set for October 30 at 10 a.m. After news this past week that Elliott would have to start serving his six-game suspension from the league after the Cowboys' bye week, there's been another ruling made. The NFL Players Association expressed opposition to an expedited hearing.

The Dallas Morning News reported Elliott's camp and the league "discussed the possibility of a settlement", but it sounds like the NFL came away from those discussions disinterested.

Crotty's decision is very much aligned with that of Judge Mazzant, finding serious issues with the process the National Football League undertook in suspending Elliott, and then upholding the decision after appeal.

Uncertainty remains because Judge Katherine Failla is on vacation and the temporary restraining order, granted by Judge Paul Crotty, who heard the case in her place on Tuesday, lasts for only 14 days.

After Sunday's matchup in San Francisco, the Cowboys will travel to Washington to take on the Redskins on 10/29.

The Ezekiel Elliott suspension originally came back in August after the National Football League had conducted a lengthy investigation into allegations that the running back had assaulted a former girlfriend in 2016.

Tottenham's Rose not ready for starting place against Liverpool
Pochettino added on Rose's condition: "He is not ready to start because he still needs to build up his fitness". Rose could start against West Ham United in next week's League Cup clash, however, according to Pochettino.

From the NFL's perspective, any reduction to the six-game suspension will invite a P.R. storm sparked by the perception that the league has been too soft on a person the league has determined to be a domestic abuser.

Elliott has 105 carries for 393 yards and two touchdowns this season.

While they failed to advance in the playoffs, the team became an early favorite to win the Super Bowl this season, until recently as their odds have dropped to 33 to 1 to win it all.

Ezekiel Elliott has been granted another temporary restraining order by the Southern District of NY, and will be allowed to play Week 7. Dallas took last season's clash in the Bay Area by a final score of 24-21.
