Values Voter Summit was created in 2006 to "preserve the bedrock values" of traditional marriage, religious liberty, sanctity of life, and limited government "that make our nation strong", according to the group's website.

President Trump brought back several of his favorite talking points during his speech before the Value Voters Summit on Friday, not the least of which was that the War on Christmas is officially over.

Jason Aldean resumes tour after Las Vegas tragedy
Many concertgoers that night wore shirts and brought signs in support of Aldean, festival first-responders and shooting victims. Two of Las Vegas shooting survivors were present at Thursday's concert, according to Tulsa radio station KWEN-FM (K95.5).

Then-candidate Trump spoke at the summit previous year, promising to return. Trump scraped that plan with a new rule that would exempt employers whose religious or moral beliefs conflict with providing contraceptive coverage.

"Since the early days of the campaign, President Trump allied himself with values voters, promising to put an end to the 8 years of relentless assault on the First Amendment", said Tony Perkins, President of Family Research Council (FRC), of which FRC Action is a legislative affiliate. This and the religious liberty order show that Trump "is committed to undoing the anti-faith policies of the previous administration and restoring true religious freedom", Perkins said.

Catalonia faces pressure over independence decision
On Oct. 10, Puigdemont said Catalonia had won its right to be independent from Spain because of the result of the referendum. About 2.3 million Catalans - or 43 percent of the region's electorate - voted amid police violence to halt the referendum.

"[People] don't use the word "Christmas" because it's not politically correct", Trump said, apparently unaware that you are not allowed to even mention the holiday until at least Thanksgiving. But they don't say - well guess what? "We're saying Merry Christmas again". "And as a Christmas gift to all of our hardworking families, we hope Congress will pass massive tax cuts for the American people".

Actor Kevin Sorbo, retired Lt. Col. Oliver North, radio host Bill Bennett, author Laura Ingraham, and former Rep. Michelle Bachmann are also scheduled to speak.

Penn State preparing to keep James Franklin if other schools pursue him
It's too early to make a judgment either way, but perhaps Penn State might be worrying over nothing - for now. As we hit the midway point of October in this college football season, there is much to still be decided.

Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon and former White House aide Sebastian Gorka will also be speaking during the summit Friday.
