Ahead of this, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have combined to record a moody, oppressive, and downright terrifying version of the "Halloween" theme. "My friends and I left the theater forever changed". We were damaged and scarred...and that theme stuck firmly in our heads. As promised, Trent Reznor has unleashed his cover of John Carpenter's classic Halloween theme - a redo you can now stream in full.

Few pairings could be so unnervingly flawless as Trent Reznor covering John Capenter's theme for 1978 horror film Halloween, but here we are, on this blessed Friday the 13, receiving just that.

The new album of Carpenter's iconic film scores will be available on October 20.

Pick up the duo's version of the "Halloween" theme and Anthology: Movie Themes 1974-1998 on Amazon.

This record is a pretty solid overview of John Carpenter's greatest themes, from his very first movie, the zero-budget sci-fi Dark Star, to 1998's supernatural Western, Vampires.

For his part, Carpenter is very pleased with the band's cover of his work.

In the weeks following the album's release, Carpenter will hit the road again, playing both his well known movie themes and material from his two Lost Themes albums.
