The UFC announced today that a battle of former champions will headline the company's next FOX special as Robbie Lawler, the former welterweight champion, will face Rafael dos Anjos, the former lightweight champion. Standing in his way is another former world champion looking to cement his own place at the top of the division. On Thursday morning, the Ultimate Fighting Championship announced its headlining bout for UFC on FOX 26 which will take place on December 16 at MTS Centre.
Lawler, meanwhile, is coming off a decision win over Donald Cerrone in July.
Many Professional Sports Teams Are Boycotting Trump Hotels
Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr on Trump: "He continually offends people, and so people don't want to stay at his hotel". But after President Trump made the decision to run for office in 2015, that number dropped significantly.
Lawler is 9-2 since returning to the octagon after a tour of now-defunct promotions. This is a fight that has the potential to be fantastic, and the victor, could very well lock up a title shot.
Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert to have season-ending surgery
The 27-year-old Eifert was selected to the Pro Bowl after reeling in 13 touchdown passes during the 2015 season. Bengals TE Tyler Eifert will undergo season-ending back surgery, ESPN's Adam Schefter tweeted Wednesday night.
Following RDA's quick, submission win over Neil Magny last month, the former lightweight champ was calling for a bout with welterweight champ, Tyron Woodley.
Dos Anjos promised to make his fight with Woodley (18-3-1 MMA, 8-2-1 UFC) an entertaining one by pushing the action. Against dos Anjos at UFC on FOX 26, he'll look to string together a couple of wins to work his way back into title contention. But he'll have no trouble with that against Lawler, who's known for his blood-soaked brawls in the octagon.
